View Homes in All Weather Conditions

It’s important to try to view homes in all weather conditions, not just when it is sunny. I get it. You wake up on a Saturday morning, raring to get to those open homes, and it’s raining cats and dogs outside. The last thing you want is to trudge through homes in this weather.

But the reality is, you need to see homes in all types of conditions. By viewing a home you are especially interested in when it is raining, you can get a sense of the following:

  • What the light is like on a dreary day

  • Where the water pools around the home (are there water logged patches in the immediate vicinity of the home?)

  • Whether the home feels ‘musty’ or damp in rainy weather (a telltale sign there could be mould in the property)

  • How water runs around the home (does it go straight for the property, move around it?) Pro tip - check the garage to see if it is water proof for storing items!

These are aspects of a home that you might not get to see under normal weather conditions and it could provide a lot of further information for you as a Buyer to determine if the home you’ve got your eye on is the right one for you. So next time you wake up and it’s raining on inspection day, take the opportunity to look at as many homes as you can!
